Abstract
Objective: To determine the relationship between academic performance and test anxiety in dental students.
Method: A descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out, it was applied to 261 undergraduate students of the academic program of Dentistry of the Antonio Nariño Palmira University. With the CAEX questionnaire, validated by Luis Valero Aguayo in 1999. Which is divided into four categories: concern, physiological reactions, situations and avoidance responses; that were evaluated through 50 questions, which are answered with the Likert-type scale with values of 0 and 5. (I feel nothing, Almost nervous, A little nervous, Somewhat nervous, Very nervous, Totally nervous).
Results: The final result of the sum of the arithmetic means of anxiety before exams, allows to identify that the anxiety in general of the students of the Faculty of Dentistry, is at a "low" level. Regarding the academic performance of the students of the Faculty of Dentistry, it was found that there is statistical significance between gender and the domain of physiological responses (p = 0.041).
Conclusions: The final result of the anxiety level of the students of the Faculty of Dentistry, is at a "low" level, no statistical relationship with academic performance was found.
