Biomarcadores Inflamatorios de la Periodontitis: Una Revisión de Alcance.
(Universidad Antonio Nariño, 2024-06-14) Rodriguez Chacón, Paula Camila; Patiño Giraldo , Jorge Eliecer
Periodontitis is recognized as a persistent inflammatory disorder of multifactorial origin, where it is characterized by an increase in bacterial plaque, leading to gum inflammation and degradation of the tissue that supports the teeth. This pathology compromises oral health and has been linked to several systemic conditions, including cardiovascular disorders and diabetes. This relationship is thought to be due to prolonged inflammation and an altered immune response in cases of periodontitis.

Cleidocranial dysplasia (CCD) is a rare genetic disease that compromises normal bone development, caused by the alteration in the RUNX2 gene of chromosome 6p (short arm), has as consequences severe bone alterations due to anomalies in intramembranous ossification that, in turn, lead to modifications in the development of cranial and clavicular bones, multiple effects on the number, eruption and replacement of teeth, and functional difficulties, as well as changes in psychosocial behavior due to deterioration in the quality of life. Objective: To study and evaluate the present case of a patient with Cleidocranial Dysplasia in order to suggest an approach taking into account the review of the literature. Methods and Materials: Corresponds to a case study of a 10 year old male patient with cleidocranial dysplasia, born (02/04/2012) by cesarean section at the Departmental Hospital San Antonio De Pitalito, with initial weight of 4.8 kg and 54 cm in height, the initial medical and semiological diagnosis describes the presence of wide and normotensive anterior fontanel, pink conjunctival eyes, moist oral mucosa, normal bilateral otoscopy, normal neck. Results: Surgery was performed in the lower jaw, extractions of primary teeth 83,82,81,71,72,73 and supernumerary teeth in the area of these extractions which were 5 supernumerary teeth, followed by operculectomy of teeth 46 and 36. Conclusion: The intervention plan accompanied by the psychological process allowed a complete process of acceptance and interest of the patient to improve his condition; The guided eruption allows to bring permanent teeth to the occlusal plane, allowing to perform the lower and upper jaw surgery followed by a strict post surgical control.

The importance of fluoride is very notable when evaluating the reduction of dental caries. At a global level, different countries have reduced this index as a consequence of the incorporation of fluorides in the sources of drinking water, salt, milk and toothpastes, therefore the WHO stipulated that for the prevention of dental caries, the Public Health Service (PHS ) has recommended, since 1962, that public water supplies contain fluoride at concentrations between 0.7 and 1.2 mg/L1. Many studies confirm the importance of fluoride in the prevention of cavities and its role in promoting oral health for more than 50 years.

In the urine analysis of the children of the town of El Juncal, high levels of fluorine ion were found. For this purpose, the water for human consumption was also analyzed, finding high levels of fluorine ion concentration in the water (exceeding 5ppm) for which It is believed that the main source of fluoride intake in this population is through water. Making a comparison with a population from Campoalegre, low levels of fluorine ion were found in urine (0.67ppm), while in water (1.05ppm) it was found within the limit recommended by the WHO for fluorine ion. The consequences of excessive intake of the fluoride ion is the accumulation in calcifying tissues such as teeth, which produces mottling in the tooth enamel. In other more severe cases, skeletal fluorosis and alterations of other organs are found that harm life. person's daily life.
