In the urine analysis of the children of the town of El Juncal, high levels of fluorine ion were found. For this purpose, the water for human consumption was also analyzed, finding high levels of fluorine ion concentration in the water (exceeding 5ppm) for which It is believed that the main source of fluoride intake in this population is through water. Making a comparison with a population from Campoalegre, low levels of fluorine ion were found in urine (0.67ppm), while in water (1.05ppm) it was found within the limit recommended by the WHO for fluorine ion. The consequences of excessive intake of the fluoride ion is the accumulation in calcifying tissues such as teeth, which produces mottling in the tooth enamel. In other more severe cases, skeletal fluorosis and alterations of other organs are found that harm life. person's daily life.Item Relación entre fluorosis dental y concentraciones de flúor en orina en estudiantes de 7 a 17 años de edad del colegio san miguel vereda el juncal municipio de Palermo Huila(Universidad Antonio Nariño, 2024-05-30) Sierra Molina, Elizabeth; Ramos Avendaño, Misael Ernesto; Achury Sanchez, Cristian David; Grillo, Elvia Karina; García, ClaudiaThe importance of fluoride is very notable when evaluating the reduction of dental caries. At a global level, different countries have reduced this index as a consequence of the incorporation of fluorides in the sources of drinking water, salt, milk and toothpastes, therefore the WHO stipulated that for the prevention of dental caries, the Public Health Service (PHS ) has recommended, since 1962, that public water supplies contain fluoride at concentrations between 0.7 and 1.2 mg/L1. Many studies confirm the importance of fluoride in the prevention of cavities and its role in promoting oral health for more than 50 years.Item Evaluación de la efectividad de la técnica de carbón activado para la disminución de la concentración de flúor en aguas para consumo humano en el municipio de rivera – Huila 2014(Universidad Antonio Nariño, 2024-05-30) Torres Cumbe, Romulo Andres; García, ClaudiaIn this study, laboratory tests were carried out, in order to reduce the Fluoride present in the water sources that supply the municipality of Rivera - Huila, beginning by determining the levels of fluorides that the urban and rural areas present, which present concentrations from 0.79 mg/l to 1.39 mg/l, with the Rio Blanco village being the place where it has the highest concentration of fluoride (1.39 mg/l).Item Tratamiento odontológico en paciente de 10 años con paladar fisurado atendida en la clínica de la universidad Antonio Nariño sede Neiva – Huila, 2023 - 1: reporte de un caso(Universidad Antonio Nariño, 2024-06-07) Rojas Pastrana ,Tania Paola; Guzmán Barrios,Julieth Andrea; Guzmán Barrios, Julieth Andrea; Rojas Pastrana, Tania Paola; Acuña, Yesid; Forero, AlixObjective: To analyze, through a case report, the pediatric dental approach of a 10-year-old patient with cleft palate treated at the clinic of the Antonio Nariño University, Neiva - Huila, 2023 - 1 Starting from an active case in the Dental Clinic of the Antonio Nariño University period 2023 - 1; With the help of tangible tools such as clinical history, x-rays and study models, the management of the 10-year-old patient with a diagnosis of cleft palate within the practice of pediatric dentistry is evident. Un análisis comparativo.(Universidad Antonio Nariño) Ortega Montero, Cesar Augusto; Calle Osorio, Paola Andrea; Pizarro Loaiza, Mayra Liliana; Pérez Jaramillo, AdolfoTissue regeneration was only an idea, which with the passage of time and the advancement of the sciences has been developing and structuring itself better, platelet concentrates and derivatives have demonstrated their influence on tissue neoformation and their contribution to better healing of the tissues. Objective: To compare bone intensity in gray scale by computed tomography of alveoli of lower third molars in post-extraction controls, performing alveolar preservation with platelet rich plasma (PRP) and platelet rich fibrin (FRP). Materials and methods: a non-randomized controlled clinical trial was carried out in which the population and sample were 10 patients (3 men and 7 women) who attended the clinic of the Universidad Antonio Nariño, based in Palmira, with indications of tooth extractions of lower third molars bilateral. The respective dental extractions were performed, with alveolar preservation of one of the alveoli using PRP or FRP, leaving the other alveolus without preservation as a control group. At the end a comparative analysis of the two methods was carried out. Results: both materials showed a mild improvement in bone regeneration, although the material with the best results was FRP, showing greater graft consolidation and greater mineralization, but this difference is not very statistically significant. Conclusions: when used as post-extraction alveolar preservation methods of lower third molars, PRP and FRP showed a mild improvement in bone density in the controls performed.Item Conocimientos, actitudes y prácticas en salud bucal en un grupo de vapeadores(Universidad Antonio Nariño) Gil Bautista, Angie Kathering; Ramírez Velandia, Lida Johanna; Riveros Guzmán, María José; Vargas Cagua, Hernán Darío; Cepeda Cárdenas, Eugenia Catalina; Thomas Alvarado, Yeily IsabelSummary. In Colombia, tobacco consumption is one of the main risk factors for chronic diseases, such as cancer, pulmonary and cardiovascular diseases, among others, which mostly affect young people and adults. For this reason, the regulation of sales and prohibitions is governed by law 1335 of 2009, which aims to guarantee the right to health in the national territory, especially for minors. For this reason, alternative tobacco products such as vaporizers became popular among young people, these are devices that work through a battery, which allows the creation of a vapor that is inhaled by the person performing such activity, this vapor can contain nicotine or nicotine salts according to consumer preference. Over the years, it has become evident that vapeo as a practice has been increasing and its high use has become a public health problem, since it is being used as an alternative to stop smoking conventional cigarettes, due to the health problems that tobacco causes. Objective. The following research aims to describe the knowledge, attitudes and practices in oral health of a group of vapers. Materials and methods. A cross-sectional descriptive study was carried out on people who use vaper devices between the ages of 18-70 years. A survey was conducted to measure the knowledge, attitudes and practices in oral health among users of vaporizers, this instrument was disseminated through social networks and shared through the virtual platform Google Forms, where participants answered the questions and were then analyzed. Results. It was established that the group of vapers surveyed have favorable oral hygiene knowledge and habits, where good use of auxiliary elements for oral hygiene is evidenced, as well as a good frequency of brushing. However, there is a lack of knowledge regarding the use of the vaporizer, since it can be identified that the concomitant use with the conventional cigarette can generate negative health consequences. Conclusions. It was evidenced that the male sex was the predominant sex in the use of the vaporizer in relation to the female sex. The group of vapers possess favorable knowledge, attitudes and practices in oral health. Likewise, the majority of those surveyed used the vaporizer as an aid to stop smoking the conventional cigarette and it can be said that there is still considerable ignorance about the damage that these devices can cause to health. For this reason, it is important that more research is carried out on the subject due to the great boom that is currently evident.Item Experiencias de madres con el uso de fórmulas lácteas y sus implicaciones en salud oral(Universidad Antonio Nariño) Caballero Soler, Erika Liseth; Martin Triana, Helen Marisol; Hernández Amaya, Margy Fernanda; Gutiérrez Salazar, Angie Natalia; Thomas Alvarado, Yeily Isabel; González Colmenares, GretelIntroduction: According to the experiences with the mothers, a critical analysis of the implications on oral health due to the use of milk formulas was carried out, from the phenomenological investigation a vision on the state of the subject is developed.Item Uso de biomarcadores en el cáncer de cavidad oral(Universidad Antonio Nariño) Ibarra Díaz, Karen Julieth; Fajardo López, Lizeth; Sarmiento, Keila; García Florez, ManuelCancer is the result of the uncontrolled proliferation of abnormal cells, either caused by genetic (molecular) changes that are transmitted from the parents to their children (hereditary) or that occur in the body throughout the life of a person (acquired). Each type of cancer has a unique group of molecular changes in cancer cells. Technological advances have made molecular testing possible, allowing clinicians to identify the molecular differences between cancer cells and healthy cells. The development of this work aims to propose and develop a study on a marker (or pool of markers) that allows a diagnosis precise state of the pathology and if it is easily obtained through minimally invasive methods, we would be facing an ideal marker that would contribute to timely treatment promoting the quality of life of patients, we will talk about microRNAs, which are small RNAs that regulate the expression of your target genes through decreased expression of proteins encoded by these genes, by repression of translation and / or degradation of its mRNA. MiRNAs play a fundamental role in virtually all cellular processes including development, function and survival. miRNAs are as critical regulators of immune tolerance and autoimmunity, These are as potential new therapeutic targets for the treatment of multiple diseases.Item Evaluación de las prescripciones de antibióticos de los estudiantes de la clínica de la facultad de odontología de la Universidad Antonio Nariño sede Bucaramanga.(Universidad Antonio Nariño) Lázaro Vergel, Sebastián Andrés; Hurtado G, Claudia PatriciaInfections that originate from resistant bacteria are a public health problem that is constantly increasing, since they are linked to many different causes, among which the incorrect use of antibiotics stands out.Item Cartilla ilustrativa para cuidadores sobre el manejo de higiene oral de pacientes con poca o nula movilidad(Universidad Antonio Nariño) Rivera Quesada, Carol Vanessa; Pérez Jaramillo, AdolfoThis investigative work has been carried out in order to determine the relevance of a illustrative booklet on oral health through the assessment of professional caregivers with experience in caring for patients with little or no mobility.Item Prevalencia de candida albicans en cavidad oral de personas sistemicamente sanas. Revisión de la literatura(Universidad Antonio Nariño) Eslava Rico, Leidy Tatiana; Suárez Gélvez, Blanca LynneCandida is an opportunistic yeast that usually colonizes mucous membranes of the skin, gastrointestinal and genitourinary tract. C. albicans is part of the normal microbiota in the oral cavity but has the ability to become pathogenic in favorable states, inducing Candidiasis. Objective: To determine the prevalence of Candida albicans in the oral cavity of systemically healthy patients according to what is reported in the literature. Materials and Methods: A systematic literature review was carried out to identify publications related to the prevalence of Candida albicans in healthy subjects, articles guided by title and abstract were selected until full texts were obtained, information search was performed in: Medline, PubMed, SciELO., Latindex, obtaining 45 articles related to the subject of which 11 reported the frequency of Candida spp, in healthy subjects, with publication dates between the years 2010-2019. Results: The presence of Candida spp. in 573 healthy subjects 34.35% of the patients. A total of 420 of 1,663 subjects presented C. albicans with 25.25% and corresponded to the highest number of isolates, followed by C. glabrata with 3.36%. A statistically significant correlation was found between orthodontic appliances (p <0.001), use of dental prostheses (p <0.001) and smoking (p <0.05) with Candida colonization. Conclusion: The prevalence of C. albicans in the oral cavity of healthy subjects was 25.25%, there being colonization by non-albicans species in 9.2%, among the possible factors associated with colonization by Candida, the use of prostheses is reported dental, orthodontic treatment and smoking.Item Revisión Sistemática: Factores Etiológicos y Prevalencia Relacionados con la Hipomineralización en Niños(Universidad Antonio Nariño) Meneses Collazos, Daniela; Sierra Castrillón, Daniela; Cometta, Nataly; García Rojas, Claudia LorenaMolar Incisor Hypomineralization (MIH) is defined as an alteration of the enamel, of unknown origin where it has been related to systemic factors, which occurs during enamel formation (amylogenesis). The teeth affected by this pathology present less mineral, which is why they are more sensitive to changes in temperature and trauma, including masticatory shock, causing significant discomfort for the child due to the high sensitivity that it presents and in some cases it affects the aesthetic and emotional of the individual Objective: To carry out a systematic review to determine the Factors Related to Molar Incisor Hypomineralization in children according to scientific evidence. Objective: to determine the Factors Related to Inciso Molar Hypomineralization in children. Materials and Methods: The methodology used for the study comprises an integrative study based on a systematic review of the scientific literature in which the factors that influence MIH were selected and analyzed in detail. Results: From the analyzed articles, it can be deduced that IMH is of multifactorial origin and there is no specific cause established as an etiological factor and different systemic factors are associated. The prevalence varies between 2% and 40.8%, Conclusions: The difference found in prevalence is due to external conditions such as the economic level of a country, given that the more power they have, the more strengthened their health model can be.Item Uso del tapabocas y relación con la halitosis en los estudiantes de odontología de la Universidad Antonio Nariño Sede-Neiva(Universidad Antonio Nariño) Dorado Ortiz, Sandi Lorena; García Álvarez, Mayra Alejandra; Gasca, Olga Lucia; García Rojas, Claudia LorenaHaving a good oral hygiene when wearing a mouthguard helps to reduce some pathologies that manifest with halitosis, among which are digestive and respiratory disorders.
