Abstract
Objective: Identify the characteristics of rugoscopy for identification purposes in forensic dentistry. Method: observational study, with a non-probability sample for convenience represented in 33 patients in a range of 18 to 48. 54.5% of the population belong to the male gender and 45.5% to the female gender. Results: The type of wrinkle that appeared less in the population is the Circle (F), with only 1 in the female gender on the right side and only 2 on the left side, one for each gender. Conclusion: The type of Circle ruga has the characteristic of being scarce in the population of the present study, only one was presented in the female gender on the right side and two on the left side, one for each gender. This finding is similar to other studies, therefore, it is considered that Circle type ruga can be applied as a differentiating physical sign between individuals for forensic identification purposes. Because unlike the other rugas, common in the population, the circle type appears in little population.
