Abstract
Low vision and blindness are a condition that does not respect a social stratum, nor a country, whether developed or underdeveloped, because it negatively impacts the development of a society, and without a doubt it becomes a challenge for modern medicine. and a challenge for public health, since it generates multiple changes in the lives of people who suffer from it, in family members and in those around them. For its part, Colombia promotes through its constitution laws and regulations to improve the quality of life of its inhabitants, and they include people with visual disabilities, however, the reality of compliance with these conditions is not known with certainty. Therefore, it is important to analyze the obstacles that arise in this population and face this reality, which seeks to provide timely, effective and efficient care to people with low vision and blindness.
