Abstract
In this project, a temperature and speed control system for the mixing drum of a coffee roaster with 3Kg capacity was designed and implemented, which managed to respond assertively to the problem raised. For this, the identification of the plant was carried out, and the design of each one of the controllers using Matlab, the sets point, temperature and speed of the mixer drum were established through the literature review, and proceeded to the Conduct of the experiment that consisted of process tests for the roasting of 1kg, 2 Kg 3Kg of coffee, then the product samples of the process were sent to study and these were certified by expert personnel in the area The results obtained made it possible to establish that for temperatures above 100 ° C the system did not present any overshoot and at low temperatures (70 ° C), it only exhibited an overshoot of 5%, reaching stability after 350 seconds. It was also possible to verify that the speed response of the system without a controller presented an overshoot of 38% compared to the established reference of 1200 RPM, this alteration could break the grain due to the intensity of the centrifugal force. Furthermore, when applying the PID speed control, no oscillation occurred, a situation that allowed reaching the reference speed without abrupt variations.
