Abstract
Objective: Through a bibliographic review, to analyze the information that describes the parameters, methodology and complications in the adaptation of rigid multifocal gas permeable contact lenses in the presbyopic population.
Methodology: a bibliographic review was carried out in multiple databases, using MeSH and DeCs terms, both in Spanish and English, and Boolean operators were used.
Results: A total of 127 texts were identified from the databases search, and after the screening and selection processes, 14 scientific articles were left, 10 of them having to do with observational studies, 1 related to control cases, and 3 guidelines for adaptation, where it was found that rigid multifocal gas permeable contact lenses are a good option for presbyopia patients, because they generate good visual acuity in distance, medium and near vision.
Conclusion: eccentricity defines the degree of addition that can be achieved; when additions greater than +2.00 are required, eccentricities higher than 1 should be used.
