This article is a didactic proposal for a better and extensive teaching of continued fractions at high school level; an important tool that allows a greater analysis of the properties of real numbers. Algebraic, geometric and diagrammatic (Farey tree) methods are presented to obtain the continued fraction of a rational number, as well as its convergent fractions for its approximation, both with the best possible accuracy. Also, some basic properties of this representation will be shown.
