Abstract
This document was born in response to the current problem that arises in the department of Valle del Cauca, due to the overcrowding of the habitat, which results in the inability of the house to provide comfort and well-being in the different climates of the department. The objective of this research is to expose the historical trajectory that the roof has had in the department, from the roof of vernacular architecture to the roof of the current house. In order to expose this trajectory, the research explores the context of the study area (valle del cauca), delimiting its geographical scope by its climate, to categorize and determine the different bioclimatic, typological and identity characteristics that have transformed the roof to date from today.
