dc.description.abstract | Abstract Introduction: Currently, the availability of new medical imaging equipment facilitates the planning of the implant location using a technique with or without a flap, such as cone beam computed tomography (CBCT), which allows the evaluation of the remaining bone structures and anatomical structures with greater precision and three-dimensional shape. Objective: Evaluate whether guided surgery is a determining factor for the placement of flapless implants compared to freehand surgical technique Methodology: Six electronic databases were used Cochrane, PubMed, Scopus,Google Scholar, Lilacs y Web of Science. For each database, a search strategy was used according to the criteria of the peak question, including mesh and non-mesh terms. Results: A total of 1715 studies were identified in the databases. Subsequently, the duplicates were eliminated, leaving a total of 1225 articles; of which 12 articles met the inclusion criteria and were selected for the systematic review. The heterogeneity is made up of the type of implant system, different types of planning software, and different types of restorations. Conclusions: The literature suggests several methods to facilitate implant placement using both a guided and freehand flapless surgical approach. This systematic review does not reveal that there are studies available evaluating the precision of freehand flapless surgery for comparison with guided surgery; Guided surgery is not a determining factor for flapless implant placement compared to the freehand technique and more long-term comparative clinical studies evaluating flapless freehand surgery are required. It is recommended that the choice to use a guide or not for flapless surgery should be based on the skill of the operator and the individual characteristics of each patient. | eng |
| spa |
