Abstract
In the present study, the prevalence of stereotypes is compared, a behavioral catalog is
created and it is determined whether belonging to a zootechnical function determines the
presence of stereotypes in equine therapy and horse riding horses. In the Comprehensive
Corporation for the Development of Vulnerable Populations in Colombia (JUMPA JUMP),
located at km 6 via Suba-Cota, Bogotá, where 12 horses were studied in total, which
established that the greatest presentation of stereotypes was in the manger, being in the
equine therapy group a prevalence of 1.97%, with a higher frequency stereotyped wandering
with 0.86%, while in the stall horse riding group 1.1%, where the most prevalent was
lignofagia with 0.31%. For the statistical analysis, an application of Odds Ratio (OR) with a
confidence interval (CI) of 95% is carried out if the fact of a horse belonging to an equine
therapy group compared to horse riding influenced the presentation of stereotypies, as a
result, 3 of the 4 stereotypes presented were not a risk factor, but stereotyped wandering was.
Although the zootechnical function is not the only factor to take into account for the
presentation of these, since there are more risk factors that determine the appearance of these
stereotyped behaviors that were not taken into account in this study.
