Abstract
This research aims to analyze psychological and family aspects that influence the self-
injury behaviors of three adolescents between the ages of 11 and 19 residents in the municipality
of Roldanillo. This work was based on theoretical positions that define self-harm, adolescence,
and the family system. The mixed investigative approach with a sequential design was used in
order to obtain relevant information using, as instruments, the self-injury questionnaire in
adolescents and the Minimult personality test. They were applied to three young people leaving
as a conclusion that self-harming behavior is associated with dysfunctional family relationships, absent maternal figures, as well as the experimentation of feelings of ambivalence and guilt after
the damage itself.
