Abstract
The project "Didactic Bank of Cathodic Protection by Impressed Current and Sacrifice Anodes for the Laboratory of the Antonio Nariño University Valledupar Headquarters " is developed as an undergraduate project in Electromechanical Engineering. This work seeks to provide a growing meaningful search with a broad contribution to science, in experimental knowledge, through the typical work environment in the laboratories of the Antonio Nariño University, Valledupar headquarters (Colombia).
For this reason, we wish through this project to close the gaps between the production of knowledge, technology and its application in the industrial sector, as well as contribute to the dissemination of the mentioned methodologies for corrosion control and achieve from the university laboratory great advantages to the student faculty of the electromechanical engineering program. In the domain of skills such as: coordination, direction, control and power of practical knowledge. In this sense, the Didactic Bank of Cathodic Protection by Impressed Current and Anodes of Sacrifice, offers the apprentice a cryptic environment where it stimulates their perception and the possibility of seeking new academic knowledge to develop the necessary skills that make them an ideal professional. This project manages to be more realistic thanks to the investigative feedback, in the theoretical-practical design in the realization of the work environments and workshops that the special interest seeks, since it is fundamental in the discrimination of new knowledge based on experience and identification of new work tools.
The experimental base built through the didactic bench allows to recognize the operation of a corrosion cell, and to understand the behavior of steel and other metals such as copper, magnesium, aluminum, and zinc with respect to their metallic corrosion potentials and metallic potentials. polarized from the application of cathodic protection in the methodologies of sacrificial anodes and impressed current. The development of practical workshops in the didactic bench allows defining when a metal undergoes a corrosion process and when it is also possible to mitigate or control corrosion and selectively apply protection to a metal structure, the bench allows to polarize the steel plates until complying with the three criteria used in standard SP0169 to confirm that a buried or submerged steel structure is being cathodically protected against corrosion. The main conclusion about the didactic bench is that it constitutes itself as a unique tool for the laboratory that allows the study of corrosion and cathodic protection control methodologies, being able from the laboratory to simulate real situations that occur in industry and in maintenance engineering, recognizing that it is also possible to apply electromechanical maintenance within a corrosion control program, the didactic bench by impressed current and sacrificial anodes has proven to be a valuable contribution to the laboratory that allows the development of research and study of applied knowledge to maintenance, making the Antonio Nariño Sede Valledupar university laboratory one of the few in the country that with this tool can develop research and knowledge in the area of cathodic protection corrosion control from a maintenance program.
