Abstract
This research has as objective to analyze the manifestations of stress in the teachers of the
Educational Institution of La Tulia, Bolivar-Valle, in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic,
consider the pedagogical challenges that teachers have had to assume to teach their classes
remotely. To achieve this, the researcher used the conceptual and theoretical description of the
role of the teacher, the background of work stress in this profession, and its physical and
emotional manifestations; besides, it is mentioning the public health emergency and the
containment measures adopted by the Colombian Ministry of Education to deal with the
COVID-19 pandemic, which limited not only face-to-face teaching but also the development of
academic activities in the classroom.
To collect information was used the quantitative methodology of non-experimental type,
with a transactional or cross-cutting study, using the research tool Maslach Burnout Inventory -
MBI-ES. This study was applied to 25 teachers rurals of elementary school and high school of
that Educational Institution, studying 18 feminine gender and 7 masculine gender teachers, in an
age range between 25 and 65 years old. As a result, was found that the teachers of the institution
taking into account the development of their function in the context of pandemic and social
isolation do not present a significant level of Burnout stress, due to the constant support they
have received during the time of isolation by the directors of the school. However, the results
show an increasing trend related to the emotional exhaustion in older participants and the ones
with the longest service time.
