La falta de conocimiento sobre cáncer oral, en la población común, ha sido reportada en
estudios anteriores como un factor significativo que retrasa la referencia y tratamiento del
cáncer oral. Así mismo una deficiencia en el conocimiento de esta enfermedad en los
médicos y odontólogos también contribuiría en el retraso del tratamiento de los pacientes
que la padecen. De esta manera, se resalta la necesidad del conocimiento de su diagnóstico
dentro de los conocimientos básicos del odontólogo general. Esta investigación nace de la
necesidad de tener en la universidad Antonio Nariño y en Colombia una guía actualizada
que nos indique como debe ser la atención integral antes, durante y después de tratamiento
oncológico ya sea de radio o quimioterapia
Abstract
Lack of knowledge about oral cancer in the common population has been reported in
previous studies as a significant factor delaying the referral and treatment of oral cancer.
Also, a deficiency in the knowledge of this disease in doctors and dentists would also
contribute to the delay in the treatment of patients who suffer from it. In this way, the need
to know your diagnosis within the basic knowledge of the general dentist is highlighted.
This research stems from the need to have at the Antonio Nariño University and in
Colombia an updated guide that indicates how comprehensive care should be before, during
and after cancer treatment, whether radio or chemotherapy.
