Abstract
The project shown below is a shell and tube heat exchanger, which is commonly used in industry. For this reason, it was necessary to implement a didactic bank for the study of this type of exchangers, which meets the following work objectives: design, construction and validation. In addition to the development of a laboratory guide. The design of the heat exchanger was carried out following some specifications of the TEMA standard. The structure of the bench was designed taking into account the space available in the fluid laboratory, for which the software called inventor was used; for the construction the most appropriate materials were selected. In the validation, tests were carried out on the exchanger, such as the circulation of the hot fluid between the tubes and the cold one inside the shell, which can go in parallel and counter flow, this in order to show and calculate the heat transfer results present in the team. Finally, a laboratory guide was proposed with which the students who are studying the subjects of heat transfer and thermodynamics will be able to strengthen their knowledge and compare the theoretical calculations with the practical ones, and thus be able to have a clearer idea of the operation of heat exchangers.
