Abstract
Due to the recurrent failure of the mechanical seals of the pump associated with the injection water system of the CT2 turbine of a thermoelectric plant located in the city of Barranquilla, the origin of the same will be identified, and the design of a system of Early diagnosis of the conditions that allows the proper functioning of the system, the estimated energy generation and the reduction of NOx pollutants as established by regulations. All this takes a process that starts from the background check, the analysis of the system pump resume and control of previous maintenance, to the design of the system in general (pipes, accessories, supply pump, etc.), vibrations and the characteristics of the working fluid (demineralized water) whose chemical factors are the main influencing in the tragic consequences on the mechanical seals after a prolonged rest in the tanks.
