Abstract
Bullying is a repeated provocative or aggressive behavior that causes the victim to be excluded from the school environment with emotional and psychosocial implications. In this sense, coping is the tool to understand how young people cope with stressful environments. The present research aims to analyze the meaning of bullying and the coping strategies in two young people who were victims of bullying in a private school and a public school in Bogotá. Categories focused on the understanding of bullying and coping strategies were designated, each one made up of subcategories; The methodology used for this research is qualitative, with a phenomenological design where an in-depth interview was used for data collection. The results responded to each of the proposed objectives, finding that the meanings given to bullying were based on the experiences of each participant describing it as physical and verbal aggression and intimidation of their peers towards them; It was evidenced that the coping strategies they used were mixed since they used strategies focused on the problem and focused on emotions. It is important to mention that no differences were found in terms of bullying suffered by the participant who studied in the private school and the participant who belonged to the public school, since their speeches and experiences in terms of bullying were similar.
