Abstract
Chicken meat is a nutritious food for humans, which represents a valuable source of protein, high-quality minerals and B-complex vitamins. This industry is an important part of the Colombian economy because it is the most consumed animal protein in the country. However, due to the same fact, the possibility that an infectious disease will appear and spread rapidly is higher. It is important to know an infectious disease with the greatest impact on the poultry industry such as Newcastle, therefore, in this work emphasis is placed on preventing it and knowing its behavior within farms. Newcastle disease is reported for the first time worldwide at the beginning of 1926 and since then, due to the increase in the poultry industry and migratory species that carry the virus, the pathology has spread to many countries, chicken being the most affected species.
