Abstract
The present documentary review has the general objective of analyzing the related information
about the influence of self-esteem in the student environment. It is important to highlight that the
school environment includes academic performance, violence in the school environment,
consumption of alcoholic beverages, psychological discomfort, career selection, etc. In order to
identify the relevant known, unknown and controversial aspects about its influence and describe
the variables associated with self-esteem in the school environment in adolescents. In the
collection of information in 20 investigations about self-esteem in the school environment, it was
possible to identify that it's construction is determined by different associated variables such as:
family, school and society, because since childhood the concept of being human or the
assessment that is made to the body is built by school, social and family interactions, in the same
way, it was determined that there is a highly significant influence with school performance since
high self-esteem will empower the subject to improve as a person, meet their life and academic
expectations, on the other hand, low self-esteem limits the student's abilities to set goals or fulfill
their life purpose, interact with their classmates, be motivated or strive to improve their student
conditions. The documentary review was qualitative - descriptive.
