Abstract
The present investigative study had the general objective of identifying the social representations of five officials of the Office of the Attorney General of the Nation about the factors that keep women in cycles of intimate partner violence. Thus, it was developed from the theoretical perspective of the explanatory model of violence cycles proposed by Walker (2009) and the traumatic union theory proposed by Dutton and Pairtner (1981).
It is a qualitative investigation with a descriptive scope, in which three of the five participants are investigators, one is a prosecutor and the other is a forensic expert. Thus, in relation to the objective proposed for the research, the open interview divided into nine categories was used as the main data collection instrument, which are: gender, intimate partner violence, identification of the phases of violence cycles, factors that maintain intimate partner violence, national regulations on intimate partner violence, criminal judicial process, opinion on the judicial system, problems of the judicial system and proposals for social intervention.
The analysis of results allowed to show the identification of the social representations of five officials of the Attorney General's Office of the Nation on the factors that keep women in the cycles of intimate partner violence, insofar as they have to do with socio-economic, cultural and psychological aspects . As are the economic dependence of the victim on the aggressor, machismo as a sociocultural ideology that affects the female gender in the affective relationship and emotional dependence as the need to remain with the partner despite the experience of abuse.
Keywords: Officials, Prosecutor's Office, social representations, intimate partner violence, victim, maintenance factors.
