Abstract
The leather industry generates a great impact on the release of effluents, contributing to soil and water
pollution, due to its high concentrations of heavy metals, organic compounds, azo dyes, among others.
The application of bacterial communities in wastewater treatment has been a significant focus in
recent years to address the pollution problems present in these effluents, detecting bacteria with
detoxification potentials.
