Abstract
This article aims to analyze the importance of early detection of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The research was classified as documentary, where relationships, positions or current state of knowledge regarding the subject under study were established. The research concludes that many children who meet the criteria for the disorder remain undetected, they are at high risk for the development of their brains during a critical period, in addition to comorbid problems that worsen the prognosis. According to studies consulted, only 2-3% of school-age children are being properly diagnosed and treated. The diagnosis is purely clinical, to carry it out, various techniques, biological tests and interviews must be applied when used properly, they contribute to making an accurate and reliable diagnosis, necessary to carry out a correct treatment, in the same way, to avoid iatrogenesis
