Abstract
Rural women have played a key role in supporting their households and communities to achieve food and nutrition security, generate income and improve livelihoods and general well-being in the rural context. However, research has shown that women not only play a critical role in domestic spaces and care work, but also represent a substantial proportion of the agricultural workforce. The present research aims to describe the entrepreneurship initiatives for the empowerment of rural women in the Vereda of Payacal la Mesa Cundinamarca.
For this reason, this study is presented, which was carried out with a qualitative methodology for obtaining information applied with interviews and in-depth surveys, carried out with the women of Payacal, regarding the dimensions of women's empowerment, it was observed that the participants had a high level of autonomy in decisions regarding agricultural production, the family economy, household nutrition and their participation in local development. On the other hand, the application of this research seeks to give the recognition they deserve because They are part of the development of their context, society and the country, listening to their dreams, desires and commitments, life stories to empower themselves as people and be agents of change.
