Raising the role of the graduate, their contribution and experience acquired in their work and professional life.Item Acción Antimicrobiana de los Aceites Naturales Sobre el Streptococcus Mutans: Una revisión Sistemática(Universidad Antonio Nariño) Collazos Guillen, Kimberly Juleidy; Ávila Montealegre, Sofía; Valencia Isaza, Juan Camilo; Martínez Guarnizo, Carlos Alberto; García Rojas, Claudia LorenaStreptococcus mutans is a Gram-positive, facultative anaerobic bacteria normally found in the human oral cavity, forming part of dental plaque or dental biofilm. It is associated with the onset and development of dental caries and is the bacterium with the highest incidence in the development of the same. Objective: To determine the antimicrobial action that natural oils have on streptococcus mutans from a systematic review. Materials and Methods: It corresponds to a descriptive observational study, for which a systematic review will be carried out in which we seek to provide a detailed analysis of the inhibitory effects that natural oils have on streptococcus mutans. Results: From the articles analyzed, it could be concluded that there are more than 30 varieties of oils with an antimicrobial effect on streptococcus mutans; ginger presents the highest differentiating value as regards its effectiveness on dead cells (98%) and the concentrations used vary from 0.1 mg/Dl to 6 mg/Dl. Conclusions: A total of 39 natural oils were analyzed, 95% of which present antimicrobial properties and 5% are in studies (oils concentrated in citrus fruits) to establish if they have antimicrobial capacity; according to this, the oil with the highest antimicrobial rate is ginger oil with a 99% inhibition rate purchased with the lowest rate, which was 74% corresponding to Cymbopogon citratus oil with 74%.Item Acción inhibitoria del probiótico bifidobacterium breve sobre lactobacillus acidophilus y revisión de la literatura del efecto inhibitorio de lactobacillus rhamnosus sobre lactobacillus spp(Universidad Antonio Nariño) Castro Pieruccini, Braian Emmanuel; Vásquez Quijano, Adiel; Suárez Gelvez, Blanca LynneProbiotics have been beneficial to health. Today they are used to balance bacterial flora avoiding many sicknesses. They are implemented in the oral cavity to inhibit microorganisms that cause dental cavities avoiding one of the most prevalent sicknesses on planet earth. OBJECTIVE: Determine the inhibitory action of probiotic Bifidobcterium breve over Lactobacillus acidophilus and determine the effect through bibliographic revision of Lactobacillus rhamnosus over Lactobacillus spp. METHODS AND MATERIALS: The purpose of this study was based on determining the inhibitory effect of the probiotics Bifidobacterium breve over Lactobacillus acidophilus, in an in vitro study cultivated in petri boxes inoculated with L. acidophilus in a massive form, they were inoculated in the center with B. breve to observe the inhibitory effect of this last one over L. acidophilus, measuring a halo of inhibition. Variables that were evaluated had, inhibitory effect of Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium spp. over L. acidophilus, determined by a halo of inhibition (mm) formed around each probiotic colony. It was complemented with a qualitive documental study based on a revision of literature to determine the inhibitory effect of Lactobacillus rhamnosus over Lactobacillus spp. RESULTS: It’s determined that Bifiobacterium breve has inhibitory effect over Lactobacillus acidophilus, a revision of literature from different scientific studies revealed that Lactobacillus rhamnosus has an inhibitory effect over Lactobacillus spp. CONCLUSION: It’s determined that there exists an inhibitory effect of Bifidobacterium breve over Lactobacillus acidophilus. This research stems from the need to have at the Antonio Nariño University and in Colombia an updated guide that indicates how comprehensive care should be before, during and after cancer treatment, whether radio or chemotherapy.Item Alteración postural cráneocervical asociada a maloclusión dental, revisión sistemática de la literatura en la base de datos Scielo, Google Académico y PubMed 2020(Universidad Antonio Nariño) Bohórquez Ríos, Jhon Henry; Rodríguez Varón, Tania; Romero Orjuela, José GilsonsAbstract Introduction: dental occlusion is an essential and essential area in dentistry, its components, physiology and integration with the stomatognathic system are the object of frequent studies, however its approach has changed substantially as time passes and new analyzes have been developed with the purpose of updating concepts and solving questions regarding its complex integration and alterations that may occur in it, due to the establishment of an inadequate development reflected in obvious anomalies or imbalances, being one of the main causes that generate both aesthetic and psychological alterations, affecting the daily life of patients and their proper development in society. Objective: to evaluate the available evidence to determine the association between craneocervical postural alteration and dental malocclusion. Method: systematic review of the literature; Guiding questions were drawn up under the PICO strategy, to search the databases, Scielo, Google Academic and PubMed, restricted in English, Spanish, Portuguese, seven years to date. Results: it was identified that the type of malocclusion that occurs most frequently is class II, related to rectified cervical spine and cervical kyphosis respectively, in the same way it is observed that craneocervical postural alterations have a higher incidence in patients with malocclusion. It can also be transmitted sexually or prenatally during pregnancy. (Matos Alviso et al; 2017). The first cases reported were at the beginning of 2015 in the Northeast of Brazil, cases where through Clinical, epidemiological, and laboratory investigations concluded that infection during pregnancy caused uterine transmission of the Zika virus which affected development embryonic causing microcephaly and serious disorders in brain development. The methodology in the present investigation was developed under the type of bibliometric study, using as sources of information all the scientific articles published from 2012 to the present in relation to the topic of dental fluorosis, information compiled through the Scopus database. Objective: To determine the concentration of fluoride in the urban aqueduct of the municipality of Timbío, to confirm or rule out the risk of dental fluorosis. Materials and methods: A descriptive exploratory study, consisting of taking 16 water samples from storage tanks, sampling devices, residential water, and control samples. The instrument for the pH sample collection was: Alla France pH-14 METRO DIG 0-14-0 with Precision = 0.1 pH; Resolution: 0.1, for the analysis of fluoride concentration water samples were taken in polypropylene containers arranged by the laboratory of environmental studies of the University of Antioquia, following the respective biosafety regulations and the protocol provided by the Ministry of Social Protection following the necessary protocols for water sampling both for taps, storage tanks, and control sample. Results: In the present study, we found fluoride concentrations below 0.210 mg/L, taking into account this value we find that it is below the WHO recommended optimal reference value for fluoride in drinking water which is 0.7 mg/L, and for the prevention of dental caries concentrations between 0.5 and 1.0 mg/L. The pH was found at an average of 7.2 and the range between 7.0 and 7.8. The type of research designed was documentary analysis with a methodology of content analysis to thematic nuclei. Epidemiological reports on dental fluorosis in Colombia between 2016 and 2019, prepared by public health surveillance and control institutions in Colombia, were analyzed. The most relevant results show that the methods and strategies that have been used to monitor fluorosis in Colombia have included quantitative records, which provide valuable data for the analysis of this process, such as age ranges, sex, territory. Samples have been used at random or for convenience, according to the monitoring data provided by Sivigila. It is concluded that the increase or decrease in the notifications of cases with dental fluorosis with respect to each period analyzed, depends on the strengthening and decrease of the Sivigila and UPGD surveillance network in all territorial entities, that is, on the disposition of the public institutions of epidemiological control and the contribution of the involved sentinels.Item Análisis de los Síntomas musculoesqueléticos por posturas ergonómicas inadecuadas de trabajo en estudiantes y profesionales de la facultad de odontología en el segundo periodo del año 2020.(Universidad Antonio Nariño) Vargas Duarte, Jhonatan David; Meneses Rios, Diego Fernando; Ustariz Caro, Deyvin; Sánchez Villamil, Juana Patricia; Sánchez Mendoza, Freddy AIntroduction. The symptoms of musculoskeletal disorders (SMS) are related to inappropriate ergonomic postures and constitute a large part of occupational diseases in dentistry, the presence of which depends on the preventive measures that each student or graduate assumes in their daily clinical practice. Objective. Describe the symptoms of musculoskeletal disorders associated with inappropriate posture. Methods. Cross-sectional descriptive study of 150 students and 67 graduates of the Antonio Nariño University, Armenia, Bogotá, Bucaramanga, Palmira and Villavicencio branches. Results. In both students and graduates, 94.5% reported having presented SMS as a consequence of clinical practice, whose location with the highest percentage of pain manifested was in the neck and shoulders with 65.9%, followed by pain in the middle back with 15.7%. Inappropriate postures during clinical practice, represented by the 47.8% that they always / frequently perform, increasing per semester of training together with the semester hour intensity. Conclusions. In dental students and professionals at the UAN, the pain that occurs most frequently is in the neck and shoulders in 6 out of 10 respondents. Musculoskeletal symptoms as a product of inappropriate ergonomic work postures occur more in women and for a longer time per day.Item Análisis del Conocimiento, Actitudes y Prácticas del uso de Elementos de Protección en el Personal de la salud de la Universidad Antonio Nariño sede Villavicencio en el año 2023(Universidad Antonio Nariño) Hernández Mejía, Aslhey Daniela; Parrado Ibáñez, Diana Marcela; Burbano Erazo, Paola Andrea; Peñuela Munévar, Ritba Camila; Baquero Padilla, Luis AlejandroThe use of Personal Protective Elements by the health services team to reduce crosscontamination and the spread of diseases is becoming increasingly important. The COVID-19 pandemic is an example of this importance, which is why this research focuses on identifying: the knowledge, attitudes, and practices in the use of PPE in students and dentists at the Antonio Nariño University, Villavicencio campus. , during the year 2023. To achieve this objective, an observational, qualitative-quantitative, cross-sectional study was carried out, in which 79 people participated, including students, professionals and dental assistants, to whom two information collection instruments were applied (survey and a data collection format), validated by experts, with reliability determined under Cronbach's alpha (82.3%). The results indicate that 46.8% acceptable levels of knowledge in the majority of participants, excellent levels in both attitudes (98.7%), and good levels in PPE use practices (54.4%) by students and dentists in the clinic of the Antonio Nariño University headquarters in Villavicencio. In conclusion, despite the acceptable level of knowledge about the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in the dental clinic, it should be highlighted that the staff observed demonstrate a good level of practice in its use in their work and an excellent level in the attitude towards the use of PPE.
