In Colombia, tobacco consumption is one of the main risk factors for chronic diseases, such as cancer, pulmonary and cardiovascular diseases, among others, which mostly affect young people and adults. For this reason, the regulation of sales and prohibitions is governed by law 1335 of 2009, which aims to guarantee the right to health in the national territory, especially for minors. For this reason, alternative tobacco products such as vaporizers became popular among young people, these are devices that work through a battery, which allows the creation of a vapor that is inhaled by the person performing such activity, this vapor can contain nicotine or nicotine salts according to consumer preference. Over the years, it has become evident that vapeo as a practice has been increasing and its high use has become a public health problem, since it is being used as an alternative to stop smoking conventional cigarettes, due to the health problems that tobacco causes. Objective. The following research aims to describe the knowledge, attitudes and practices in oral health of a group of vapers. Materials and methods. A cross-sectional descriptive study was carried out on people who use vaper devices between the ages of 18-70 years. A survey was conducted to measure the knowledge, attitudes and practices in oral health among users of vaporizers, this instrument was disseminated through social networks and shared through the virtual platform Google Forms, where participants answered the questions and were then analyzed. Results. It was established that the group of vapers surveyed have favorable oral hygiene knowledge and habits, where good use of auxiliary elements for oral hygiene is evidenced, as well as a good frequency of brushing. However, there is a lack of knowledge regarding the use of the vaporizer, since it can be identified that the concomitant use with the conventional cigarette can generate negative health consequences. Conclusions. It was evidenced that the male sex was the predominant sex in the use of the vaporizer in relation to the female sex. The group of vapers possess favorable knowledge, attitudes and practices in oral health. Likewise, the majority of those surveyed used the vaporizer as an aid to stop smoking the conventional cigarette and it can be said that there is still considerable ignorance about the damage that these devices can cause to health. For this reason, it is important that more research is carried out on the subject due to the great boom that is currently evident.Item Conocimientos, actitudes y prácticas en salud oral de padres y/o cuidadores de niños de la primera infancia de la I.E.D Escuela Normal Superior de Junín Cundinamarca en el año 2022(Universidad Antonio Nariño) Méndez Moreno, Eliana Norellys; Pineda Parra, Wenndy Tatiana; Zambrano Zamora, Valentina; Coy Cucunuba, Nikolay; Thomas Alvarado, Yeily IsabelObjective: To evaluate the knowledge, attitudes and practices in oral health of parents and/or caregivers of early childhood children of the I.E.D Escuela Normal Superior de Junín Cundinamarca in the year 2022. Estudio ex vivo(Universidad Antonio Nariño) Pinzón Chacón, Leidy Katherine; Hernández Morales, Santiago; Alfonso Rodríguez, Camilo Andrés; Thomas Alvarado, Yeily IsabelThe Bioceramic MTA on days 3, 5 and 7 altered the morphology of the cells when it was subjected to the study concentrations. At the concentrations of 0.5 mg / ml, 0.25 mg/ ml and 0.125 mg / ml, adhered cells were observed in all concentrations without connections or branches or the typical fibroblast morphology and decreased cell population. Regarding cell viability, in the studies of trypan blue and WST-1 on days 3, 5, and 7, it was evidenced that all the proposed MTA concentrations negatively affected cell viability. Cell proliferation analysis at all concentrations showed that exponential growth was observed on days 1 and 3, contrary to days 5 and 7, which were affected.Item Evaluación de la viabilidad celular del ácido gálico sobre fibroblastos del ligamento periodontal. Estudio in vitro(Universidad Antonio Nariño) Garibello Cubillos, Valentina; Rodríguez Moreno, Sergio Luis; Romero Rodríguez, Ana Cristina; Villamarín Márquez, Juan Sebastián; Thomas Alvarado, Yeily IsabelGallic acid, or 3,4,5-trihydroxybenzoic acid, is a naturally derived polyphenolic compound used for the treatment of systemic diseases, including inflammatory diseases, but with the probability of generating cytotoxicity in non-pathogenic microorganisms when administered in high concentrations. The aim of the present investigation was to evaluate the cytotoxic effect of gallic acid on periodontal ligament fibroblasts. An experimental in vitro study was carried out using gallic acid concentrations of 1, 5, 10 and 20µM, with exposure times of 12, 24 and 48 hours, implementing the flow cytometry technique with propidium iodide and performing positive and negative controls of cell death with hydrogen peroxide and DMSO. The negative cell death control averaged 95.47% at 12 hours and 93.83% at 48 hours. Triplicate assays were performed at each exposure time and concentration of gallic acid, where cell viability remained in a range of 90-98.4%, with a proportional behavior with increasing concentration. In conclusion, gallic acid had a few cytotoxic effect on periodontal ligament fibroblasts, opening the door for its use in periodontal therapeutics.Item Experiencias de acceso a servicios de salud de padres/ cuidadores de niños/as con labio fisurado y paladar hendido de la Fundación Operación Sonrisa(Universidad Antonio Nariño) Montenegro Moncayo, Maria Pia; Gutierrez Tovar, Keverly Alejandra; Thomas Alvarado, Yeily Isabel; Campos Charris, Flora MariaPatients with cleft lip and palate (CLP) qualify as individuals with unique healthcare needs, considered to be at greater risk of physical development issues and emotional behavior disorders, requiring healthcare services.Item Experiencias de madres con el uso de fórmulas lácteas y sus implicaciones en salud oral(Universidad Antonio Nariño) Caballero Soler, Erika Liseth; Martin Triana, Helen Marisol; Hernández Amaya, Margy Fernanda; Gutiérrez Salazar, Angie Natalia; Thomas Alvarado, Yeily Isabel; González Colmenares, GretelIntroduction: According to the experiences with the mothers, a critical analysis of the implications on oral health due to the use of milk formulas was carried out, from the phenomenological investigation a vision on the state of the subject is developed.Item Experiencias de vida en mujeres con trastornos de la conducta alimentaria y su salud bucal(Universidad Antonio Nariño) Zambrano Giraldo, Angelli Lizeth; Aguilar Ortiz, Itala Yineth; Jurado Ortiz, Jennifer Camila; Rodríguez Martínez, María Alejandra; Thomas Alvarado, Yeily Isabel; González Colmenares, GretelEating disorders are a group of diseases and psychological problems recognized for their severity and the effects they can cause in the individual who suffers from them.
