Item Análisis retrospectivo de las principales patologías de origen infeccioso que afectan a los terneros en la ganadería colombiana durante el periodo comprendido entre el 2009 y 2019(Universidad Antonio Nariño) Aldana Gallego, David Santiago; Gutiérrez Peña, Laura Lorena; Rincón Gómez, Stefanny; Velandia Álvarez, Daniel Andrey; Moreno Andrade, Laura MarcelaAccording to the Colombian Federation of Cattle Raisers (FEDEGAN) the agricultural sector contributes 6% of the national GDP, generating 6% of employment at the national level and 19% of agricultural employment in the country (FEDEGAN, 2017). Based on the above, livestock represents an important part of the country's economic and social development (Vallejo 2021). The Colombian Agricultural Institute (ICA) is the entity in charge of promoting Good Farming Practices (BPG) in the country. These involve monitoring animal welfare and the sanitation plan, which pays special attention to calf care. A calf that is well cared for from birth will be more resistant to diseases, guaranteeing a high percentage of its development and growth, which translates into productivity and profitability. In spite of the above, infectious diseases are common in calves and represent enormous economic losses to the livestock industries, as a result of mortality and treatment costs. (Baquero-Parrado 2008). In this work, important aspects of the main infectious pathologies in calves are covered: their etiology, clinical signs and the most used diagnostic methods in the country, as well as information regarding the most frequently occurring diseases. On the other hand, different epidemiological studies found and reports of disease cases that indicate the prevalence of these pathologies during a time interval between 2010 and 2019 were analyzed.Item Análisis retrospectivo de los últimos 10 años de las principales patologías reproductivas que afectan a la ganadería de leche en Colombia(Universidad Antonio Nariño) Becerra Jaimes, Tania Carolina; Sanchez Peña, Jemmy Julieth; Moreno Andrade, Laura MarcelaThe objective of this study was to determine the prevalence of the main pathologies with reproductive impact in Colombian dairy cattle that cause great economic losses, due to the amount of etiological agents that could be innumerable and therefore those that have more relevance were mentioned. in our midst. Among them are, Bovine Viral Diarrhea (BVD), Infectious Bovine Rhinotracheitis (IBR), Leptospirosis, Neosporosis and Brucellosis, these are the most frequent pathologies in Colombia of viral, bacterial and parasitic origin respectively that affect bovine reproduction of Colombia generating abortions, decrease in milk production, loss of animals due to sanitary problems and additional expenses in treatments. In Colombia, climatic conditions are not always ideal for the different dairy breeds that have been developed par excellence in European countries (Beteta, 2005Item Percepción de estudiantes de medicina veterinaria de la universidad Antonio Nariño y propietarios de mascotas que asisten a la clínica veterinaria de la universidad Antonio Nariño sobre el uso de medicina alternativa(Universidad Antonio Nariño) Avendaño Ruiz, Alicia; Castillo Carreño, Jeison David; Molina Muñoz, Ángela Sofia; Moreno Andrade, Laura MarcelaThanks to the growing interest worldwide in complementary and alternative medicine (CAM), in the human medicine area, which is notorious in different places of the world, such as Latin America where normatives have already been generated to regulated CAMs. Europe where it has begun to implement the use of integrative medicine, which has led to an increase in scientific research of these medicines, while in the field of veterinary medicine due to the few studies based on these, there is no marked increase in use or generations of policies for those and therefore decreases the chance of a integrative veterinary medicine. The aim of our study was to know the perception, knowledge and interest of pet owner and veterinary medicine students from the Antonio Nariño University who attended the veterinary clinic, investigate which is the preference of these over complementary medicine and carry out the corresponding literature evaluation on this. The results of this study imply that the majority of the surveyed people 78% recognize that it is alternative medicine, which show us since the beggining of the survey desinformation of alternative medicine which is also reflected in the use that it has had, 6% of the 100% of the respondents have use alternative medicine as a form and these also are willing to use it, as can be demonstrated in another result where is it shown that of the respondents, 57% have not use alternative medicine, most of the respondents would integrate alternative and traditional medicine if they became more knowledgeable about them.
