Abstract
Objective: To analyze the state of scientific knowledge in relation to the intervention of the speech - language pathologist in the relief of suffering of the terminal patient in palliative care. Methodology: The research was conducted under the methodology of an integrative review of the literature, descriptive and retrospective in scope, focused on the parameters established by Whittemore. Results: It was possible to propose intervention strategies of the speech – language pathologist for adults and pediatrics, focused on interpersonal communication, being intervened from the categories of communication for adjustment to change, communication to meet needs, communication for the need to simplify, communication to deliver and receive gratitude, communication for regret, communication for end-of-life support, being transversal communication for multidisciplinary work, in order to alleviate the suffering of the terminally ill patient in palliative care
