Abstract
Death caused by preventable conditions is avoidable. If diseases are controlled, death can be postponed, which is why health and economic policies seek to intervene in those factors that increase the risk of death. Health spending on disease prevention has a direct and indirect impact on the quality and length of life of current and future populations. The effectiveness of preventive and clinical interventions can be easily measured in terms of improved health status and reduced deaths.
