Abstract
Acerías Paz del Rio Company has a plant named “Laminación 450”, there is a pneumatic system with about 70 years of installation, which is currently composed with 3 compressors of the Kaeser mark, each of them has a power of 250 hp, There are drawbacks due to the large volumes of condensate liquid, that appear in valves, pipes, cylinders, and in the final product itself, this happens since there are no dryers and an adequate drainage system, in addition there are considerable leaks that generate falls pressure and additional consumption of electrical energy for the operation of the compressors.
After having initially installed the pneumatic network, it has been possible to establish that from the maintenance part of the company, it has not been given enough importance to improve its operation, for this reason a study was carried out in which establish actions that will contribute to reducing the consumption of electrical energy for the operation of the compressors, and therefore a considerable economic saving, the amount of condensate that is being generated was clearly established and the equipment that when installed will considerably reduce the impact of this in the final consumers and in the facilities, as well as that these go according to the required air quality established in the ISO8573-1 standard.
