Abstract
Due to the drastic climatic variations that the Bogotá savannah presents, the increase in population in recent years, the construction of urbanizations in suburban areas, the low productive performance of traditional practices used in agriculture and the need to create a model business for small vegetable farmers; The Design Thinking methodology was adopted making use of the canvas canvas tool for a business model focused on the prototype of an automated vertical that remotely captures and monitors the physical and environmental variables that influence crop growth, such as temperature, relative humidity, soil humidity, luminosity and irrigation system.
The implementation of the project consisted of three phases, taking into account the 3D modeling, the first phase was the physical construction of the prototype where the shelving was adapted and the sensors and actuators were located in the strategic areas, later the control and monitoring was processed in the ESP32 microcontroller, in charge of sending the sensed signals to the Ubidots server and finally the data obtained was graphically displayed by the server's API on the web page. To verify the functionality of the prototype, unit and integration tests were carried out, where positive results were evidenced in terms of the designed state machine, it was also observed that the automated control of the vertical farm was optimal compared to the conventional farming method.
