Abstract
The company Area Limpia Servicios Medioambientales S.A.S. ESP in one of its business lines has the purpose of providing specialized services in preventive and corrective maintenance of hydrosanitary networks and units of industrial and domestic wastewater treatment systems, which guarantees the adequate disposal of sludge in accordance with established in the environmental permit granted by the Regional Autonomous Corporation of Cundinamarca CAR. The drying bed process is important within the treatment plant procedure because it guarantees the total dehydration of the sludge for its final disposal in accordance with the environmental permit issued by CAR. However, within this technical process, some difficulties have been identified that generate inefficiencies, possibly higher costs.The treatment plant operates under the initial design parameters, but at this time one of the processes for sludge dewatering presents operational difficulties already that the drying process is taking up to 15 days, thus restricting the storage capacity of the receiving tanks, taking into account that the drying process is no longer 60 m3 / week according to the provision initially designed for the treatment, but is operating at 50%, that is, 30 m3 / week are being dehydrated, causing difficulties that generate inefficiencies throughout the operation, and the decrease in product to process and take advantage of the installed capacity of the plant, the untimely attention of customers and lost business opportunities. The main objective of the project is to present the company with an improvement option that enables the implementation and optimization of the drying bed process for sludge dewatering more effectively, making use of some Lean Manufacturing tools, together with a financial study that determine the feasibility of this proposal.
