Abstract
The influence exerted by the participation of parents in the academic process of their children, being the same models through direct observation of the child as part of learning, where the father determines a primary role as a modeling actor, and his successor acts like a sponge absorbing all experience through it. Bandura in his theory assigns that mediating processes occur between stimuli and responses, and that behavior is learned from the environment through the observational learning process. This research is supported by this approach where the father is the key companion of the learning process of his son in the studies and behavior acquired as a pattern of an influential model that codifies his being and doing.
Considering the above, this study's main objective was to describe the degree of parental participation in the academic process of the children of the Mafalda school and their friends from the municipality of Fonseca, department of La Guajira. It is a study with a quantitative approach with a descriptive design and cross section. To collect the information, the Questionnaire directed at parents was used, this instrument was developed by Valdez, Martín and Sánchez (2009) and adapted by Ochoa (2018), which presents a score in Cronbach's Alpha (reliability) average of 0.85, which shows good psychometric properties.
As a result of the research, it is concluded that children's learning at home or at a distance has been declining on a large scale, as a consequence of the lack of effective communication between parents - children - institution; and therefore, only occasionally do the representatives cooperate actively in the decisions of the educational community, determined the low enthusiasm as volunteering with the academic environment of their descendants.
