Abstract
Burnout Syndrome and psychosocial risk factors were investigated as independent variables in this study. The aim of this investigation was to analyze the association between psychosocial factors inside and outside of the workplace with Burnout Syndrome manifestation in staff members of Policía Metropolitana in the city of Santiago de Cali. A cross-sectional study was conducted using the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) and a battery of instruments applied to 10 active police officers to evaluate psychosocial risk factors. Results from this analysis did not reveal prevalence of Burnout Syndrome in these subjects. However, psychosocial factors inside the workplace were found at high risk levels and subjects disclosed frequent, self-perceived stress symptoms. As a result of this research no association was found between psychosocial factors inside or outside of the workplace and Burnout Syndrome manifestation in staff members of Policía Metropolitana in the city of Santiago de Cali.
