Abstract
In the present work, it was investigated whether the level of depression decreases in a patient diagnosed with persistent depressive disorder through art therapy as an alternative tool, through a program called Expressions of the being that consists of 7 sessions demarcated in the plastic-visual production, plus a complement of concepts of emotional intelligence derived in interpersonal and intrapersonal, self-consciousness, self-regulation and empathy. The study was carried out in a 30-year-old female patient from an empirical, humanistic approach to person-centered, qualitative and exploratory-type in a case study with pre- and post-test application. It was discovered how the disturbances that afflict the unconscious are brought to the conscious plane causing "awareness", achieving catharsis and adequate insight in the person treated under the program, the above, through the reflection of the plastic-visual work both in its execution and in its completion.
