Abstract
The present work aims to identify the construction of the meanings associated with the body modification of a group of adolescents from the Liceo Femenino Mercedes Nariño school, in which the different body modifications, body image, aesthetics, adolescence were explored within the theoretical framework and their coping strategies; Regarding the methodology, a qualitative methodology based on the epistemology of hermeneutics was used, with a narrative design, through narrative interviews, which were applied to four adolescents, in which it is found that the adolescents construct their perception of the body image from the meanings that one has to perform them; without the influence of the ideal or aesthetic stereotypes imposed by society, denoting in the same way an important influence of the parents since they are the ones who approve or not the different modifications. As recommendations, it is suggested to expand the population to the male population and people of young adulthood.
