Abstract
This research arose from the deficiency found with respect to research carried out in Colombia on sexual and reproductive health in the indigenous population. It is intended to describe the social representations about the use or not of a condom in a group of women who recognize themselves as indigenous.
The research is qualitative, with a phenomenological design that aims to explore, describe and understand the attitudes, imaginations and behaviors of the sample, made up of five women with ages ranging between 20 and 30 years. Their voluntary participation was counted on for the development of semi-structured interviews that responded to three categories of analysis from social representations: information, attitude and behavior.
The study rethinks the position of the current indigenous woman within the community, autonomy, independence and a proactive attitude towards their sexuality and the use or not of a condom.
Keywords: Social representations, Woman, Indigenous, Condom.
