Abstract
Introduction: The quality of the programs and the projected learning results are evaluated from different angles, one of which is the perception of the actors in the training process that allows for the identification and design of continuous improvement actions in higher education institutions (HEI). The results of this process provide the criteria, variables, indicators and units of analysis that guide the revision of the curricular structure, with the aim of making adjustments or, failing that, making a new academic proposal in the curriculum. Objective: To evaluate the perception of students, teachers, graduates and employers about the curriculum of the dental school of a private university in Bogota - Colombia. Methods: We conducted a descriptive cross-sectional study with an intentional sample of teachers, students, graduates and employers. Scales were reviewed and adapted taking into account the units of analysis. Results: Students perceive academic staff between 50% to 60% good (medium consensus - review and improvement plan), resources and service, infrastructure and admission between 30% and 49% (low consensus - weak point - review - improvement plan), Teachers perceive programmatic content, curricular aspects and research > 80%, excellent. Program evaluation and flexibility was established at 72% as good (between 70% and 80%). Graduates perceive training quality as high, impact on the community and economic job satisfaction as average. Conclusions: Employers perceive the faculty-trained dentists to be highly skilled in teamwork. The improvement plans should include actions to improve graduate follow-up processes and their impact on the work environment.
