Revisión de tema(Universidad Antonio Nariño) Sanchez Castañeda, Shadai; Soraya Reyes, LigiaLow vision and blindness are a condition that does not respect a social stratum, nor a country, whether developed or underdeveloped, because it negatively impacts the development of a society, and without a doubt it becomes a challenge for modern medicine. and a challenge for public health, since it generates multiple changes in the lives of people who suffer from it, in family members and in those around them. For its part, Colombia promotes through its constitution laws and regulations to improve the quality of life of its inhabitants, and they include people with visual disabilities, however, the reality of compliance with these conditions is not known with certainty. Therefore, it is important to analyze the obstacles that arise in this population and face this reality, which seeks to provide timely, effective and efficient care to people with low vision and blindness.Item Aceptación de ayudas ópticas no convencionales en pacientes con baja visión. Revisión bibliográfica.(Universidad Antonio Nariño) Ramírez Viveros, Rafael Hernan; Cortés Linares, Karol Yissely; Vásquez Melo, Eliana CarolinaThe purpose of the development of this study was to know the acceptance of non-conventional optical aids for patients in Low Vision rehabilitation, for which a bibliographic review was carried out that in turn allows contextualizing the optometrist in the exercise of the profession. A total of 9 articles published in the last 10 years (2010-2020) were included, through which it was established that the most accepted non-conventional optical aid within low vision rehabilitation are magnifying glasses, followed by microscopes and telemicroscopes . Likewise, it should be mentioned that, for a patient with low vision problems, they need to carry out a rehabilitation plan and in this way, they can continue to carry out their daily tasks with their visual potential, taking into account elements such as reading and writing since they are the main objectives established within the rehabilitation management of patients with this condition.Item Ácido docosahexaenoico (DHA) y el resveratrol en el manejo de la angiogénesis a nivel ocular: Revisión bibliográfica(Universidad Antonio Nariño) Londoño David, Laura María; Torres Rivas, Sara Liz; Cano Paniagua, Alejandra; Galeano Castañeda, Yadira BernardaNatural antioxidants such as resveratrol and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) have been studied for their potential properties in different eye conditions, this has led to the identification of the implementation of resveratrol and DHA in the improvement of retinal pigment epithelium storage in adults, light-induced retinal degeneration, attenuation of the inflammatory retinal condition and damage from diabetic retinopathy. METHODOLOGY: A review was carried out bibliography, which included educational, clinical and informative material on the topic; documents such as scientific articles, theoretical reviews or clinical cases, web pages of related organizations and literature of human sciences and low vision with a publication no older than 10 years, available in databases data from the Antonio Nariño University, ElSevier, E-Libro, SciELO, ScienceDirect, Sage Knowledge, PubMed and Google Scholar. RESULTS: The findings in people with acquired visual impairment, indicated affections at an emotional level, as in his feeling of the situation; which is expressed through different phases or episodes, being the result of the process of adaptation to disability visual. Objective: to determine the ocular pathologies associated with great myopia that produce low vision. Methodology: review of narrative literature in databases such as Scielo, pubMed, Elservier, between the years 2000 to 2020. Results: ocular findings of magna myopia were found that can generate low vision such as posterior staphyloma, retinoschisis, foveoschisis, chorioretinal atrophy, among others, these alterations generate damage to layers of the retina, choroid, macula and fovea that can lead to mainly rhematogenous retinal detachment. Conclusions: low vision due to great myopia is mainly due to alterations such as posterior staphyloma, choroidal neovascularization, and retinal detachment, since they progressively decrease visual acuity and visual field.Item Alteraciones oculares y visuales en pacientes con Trastorno de Déficit de Atención e Hiperactividad (TDAH). Considering that visual interpretation occurs in the brain, some visual functions may be affected in these patients. Objective: To identify monocular and binocular visual alterations in patients with ADHD by means of a bibliographic review. Methodology: A bibliographic review was carried out in documentary such in Pubmed, Science Direct, Scielo, Elsevier and Embase. Results: Some prevalence of alterations in accommodation, anti-saccades, color vision, contrast sensitivity and stereopsis were found. Conclusions: ADHD compromises a complex neurochemical and neurosensitive system that triggers dopaminergic deficits, slowdown in visual and muscle processing, generating different visual alterations, findings that suggest to visual health professionals to correlate each data found in the consultation in order to to seek effective multidisciplinary management in these patients.Item Alteraciones visuales y oculares en niños y jóvenes con diabetes mellitus(Universidad Antonio Nariño) Molano Torres, Emilse Liliana; Forero Julio, Michel Ferney; Lozano Villanueva, Fabiana Andrea; Montoya Posada, Christian Mauricio; Contreras Vargas, Alicia JannethIntroduction: Diabetes is defined as a group of metabolic diseases characterized by hyperglycemia, associated with multifactorial damage to different organs, including the eyeball, thus allowing the identification and early diagnosis of visual and ocular alterations, taking into account the findings in the anterior and posterior segment, especially in the care of children and young people with Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus. Methodology: An exhaustive search of scientific articles found in different search engines such as: Pubmed was carried out. Science Direct, Proquest, Scielo, American Academy Of Ophthalmology, etc, with a publication date of less than 10 years, in English and Spanish. Results: Visual and ocular alterations were found, both in the anterior and posterior segments in children and young people with type I diabetes mellitus; being more prevalent the decrease in vascular density in the superficial and deep capillary plexus of the retina corresponding to 10%, in the same way it was found that the structure that is most affected in the anterior segment is the lens with a percentage of 20% and 15% of refractive errors pertaining to visual function. Objective: To analyze the biocidal effectiveness of multipurpose cleaning solutions for soft contact lenses. Methodology: Literature review of English and Spanish articles in databases such as Scopus, MEDLINE PubMed between 2015 and 2021. NLM, LILACS and Results: A total of 77 articles were evaluated, 25 were considered because they met the inclusion criteria. It was established that the biocidal effectiveness of solutions for cleaning contact lenses that are mainly found on the market are Polyhexamethylen e biguanide (PHMB), Polyaminopropylene biguanide (PAPB), Polyquaternium1 (POLYQUAD), Hydrogen Peroxide, Polyvinylpyrrodone (PVP) with a high antimicrobial level and Trimetropin with a less effective response. Conclusions: The solutions for cleaning hydrop hilic lenses with the active principle of hydrogen peroxide are more effective due to their high duration in disinfection, while Trimetropin has minimal or no effectiveness against different microorganisms.Item Asociación entre las alteraciones visuales y el retraso del desarrollo motor en niños de 0 a 12 años: revisión narrativa de literatura.(Universidad Antonio Nariño) Baquero Suárez, Hernando Andrés; Oyasa Moncayo, Juan Fernando; Vasquez Alvarado, Angela del pilarObjective: To describe the association between visual disturbances and delayed fine and gross motor development in children aged 0 to 12 years reported in the scientific literature. Methodology: The information search was carried out in the databases: PUBMED, SciELO, Redalyc. English-language publications made between 2000 and 2021 were selected. These publications were characterized and evaluated with the CASPe critical reading method and finally the visual disturbances with their reported motor disturbances were grouped and classified. Results: Compared with control children, children with impaired binocular vision (strabismus and amblyopia) and visual impairment due to pathological causes; present alterations of fine and gross motor skills in different aspects. Objective: To determine the benefits of virtual reality therapy in patients with amblyopia. Methodology: Narrative review in PubMed, American Academy of Ophthalmology, P.M.C, SciELO, between 2006 and 2021, a total of 36 articles were obtained, 20 were included because they met the inclusion criteria. Results: A.V, stereopsis and suppression are improved with virtual reality therapies in adults, unlike in children who show a lower effect in the treatment compared to traditional methods. Conclusion: The use of this therapy is effective for the treatment of adult patients with amblyopia, mainly of the strabic and anisometropic type, however, it can be effective for children.Item Calidad de Vida En La Adaptación De Lentes De Contacto En Pacientes Con Problemas Refractivos Altos Y De Baja Visión(Universidad Antonio Nariño) Pabón, Leidy Omaira; Pérez Pinilla, Sandra Lorena; Ortega Pacific, Ernesto J.; Cortés Rodríguez, Diana Catalina; Vásquez Melo, Eliana C.Low Vision is a multifactorial condition that affects at least 25% of the world's elderly population, affecting more frequently in Asian countries, followed by Eastern countries. Low Vision patient is considered when visual acuity (VA) is less than 0.3 in the better eye and a visual field less than 20 ° (1). This work will intend to establish the changes in the quality of life of patients with high refractive errors and Low Vision, using LC contact lenses versus ophthalmic lenses by means of a literature review. To do this, a search and analysis of articles and literature references was developed in databases such as: Access Medicine, PubMed, Virtual Health Library, and Virtual Library for Public Health surveillance, Imbiomed, SciELO - Scientific Electronic Library Online, Medigraphic, where it is evidenced that LC adaptation improves VA, peripheral field and quality of life of patients.
