Abstract
The main purpose of the degree project presented in this document is to design a mechanical prototype for harvesting and transporting sweet potatoes to facilitate harvesting tasks for small producers. For this, the design considerations proposed by the DFMA methodology (Design for manufacturing and assembly) and technological tools were applied, in this particular case, SolidWorks software. This software was used to create the three-dimensional model of the prototype perform dynamic and static tests of stresses, deformations and permissible safety coefficients, supported by the theoretical calculations associated with the respective design methods. For the selection of the prototype components, certain alternatives were compared, which were evaluated technically and economically under the criteria selected by the work team, taking into account design considerations. The drawings for the manufacture of the prototype, as well as the instructions for its assembly are the tangible results achieved with this Project, so that they can be used in the short term and even make improvements on it. In conclusion, the project fulfills the objectives described and promotes the creation of initiatives for the resolution of problems related to the peasants and farmers of Colombia, which are forgotten by the National Government, allowing them to improve their harvesting work through the modernization of harvesting tasks and also, to think about the export of farm products
