Abstract
The present work proposes the design of a hydraulically operated lift and transfer for the San Pedro Claver geriatric home, where the use of a device of these characteristics has become necessary to facilitate the transfer of patients in a condition of motor disability, from their bed to the wheelchair and vice versa.
Initially, and with the objective of identifying the need, a survey of information was carried out through field work, where the type of disabilities existing in the geriatric home and the technical requirements necessary for the construction of the crane were identified, such as width of corridors, height of the rooms, distance between beds, etc which allows the correct dimensioning of each one of the components and to comply with certain technical and mechanical characteristics necessary to guarantee aspects of safety, transport and ergonomics that are adaptable to the current conditions of the place.
To properly understand the operation of these devices, we proceed to document the state of the art and through the benchmarking methodology, we take as a reference some models of cranes already on the market in order to obtain a reliable, safe and quality design, which contributes to improving the living conditions of these people.
Once the need has been identified and after studying the state of the art, the design is made, taking into account aspects of safety, functionality, easy maintenance, aesthetics and quality, which guarantee comfortable and safe conditions when moving the elderly.
Finally, using the SOLIDWORKS engineering software, the graphic modeling of each of the crane's components is elaborated and later a computer analysis is made, which allows the validation of its correct operation.
