Abstract
Dental caries is a multifactorial disease with the highest prevalence and incidence worldwide, characterized by rapid destruction and infection of dental tissue depending on the vulnerability of populations, especially when they belong to a low socioeconomic level. Dental caries is considered as a complex pathological process, of infectious and transmissible origin that affects dental structures due to genetic, behavioral, social and environmental factors. Inadequate eating habits also play a role, which can be a high risk factor for tooth decay. Objective: To compare the prevalence and severity of caries and its relationship with lifestyle in children from two educational institutions in Ibagué-Tolima, whose sample was 50 children from 2 to 5 years old from each child development center of the commune eight. from Ibagué for convenience. Methodology: Descriptive, observational and cross-sectional study, the instrument previously validated by experts was used and applied to parents or caregivers of children in the two institutions, which contained questions about oral habits, lifestyle, nutrition and related dental caries. with the kids.
