Abstract
The nematicidal effectiveness of the Dysphania ambrosioides plant was evaluated in doses of 0.05 ml/kg, 0.10 ml/kg and 0.15 ml/kg in dogs with an interval of 7 days in the Animal Life Foundation in the City of Popayan compared to a commercial vermifuge (pyrantel and praziquantel Pamoate) in doses of 1ml/5kg every 7 days to control gastrointestinal parasites, which is a problem in canines. This study was of an experimental type which was carried out through the development of 5 cycles and 4 periods, initially the most frequent gastrointestinal parasites in canines were identified by means of the simple flotation test and later the load of gastrointestinal nematodes was determined by means of of the Mc Master coprological technique, for this purpose 24 canines between 1 to 6 years of age were randomly selected, divided into 4 groups, to which the treatments indicated above were administered, the data obtained during these cycles were analyzed using statistical techniques of a descriptive type of information such as Shapiro Wilk, Anova and Tukey.
The result of the work showed a better performance in the group treated with the comercial product based on pyrantel pamoate and praziquantel at a dose of 1ml/5 kg, maintaining a low parasitic load of gastrointestinal nematodes, while Dysphania ambrosioides did not show a good effect. antiparasitic, compared to pyrantel pamoate and praziquantel.
