Abstract
The main objective of the present study is to analyze the land surface temperature data, obtained from MODIS images, on heterogeneous vegetation cover of forests and semi-natural areas (B), comprising trees, shrubs and herbaceous, and, in agricultural territories (T), which are those dedicated to permanent and transitory crops and may be associated with pastures. First, on a series of surface temperature images from the MODIS sensor, which have a periodicity of 8 days, the groups of points located on forest cover and agricultural areas are selected, with a distribution percentage of approximately 50% for each, verifying the selection of the groups using the map of cover of Colombia. The study was continued with the surface temperature information obtained from the sensor, storing the images generated containing the records of 16 years (2003 to 2019). From there two documents turn out (Final Day Document and Final Night Document), which are used for statistical analysis, were produced in order to determine if there are significant differences between the data sets analyzed for Day and Night Surface Temperature, between the two coverages under investigation. The results of this study allow us to affirm that significant differences are presented for the surface temperature during the day, for both covers, where the agricultural territories present maximum values in the maximum and average temperature, while, in the minimum temperature, it is the forest that shows the highest values, this behavior in general is maintained when making comparisons between groups, months and years.
