This pathology compromises oral health and has been linked to several systemic conditions, including cardiovascular disorders and diabetes. This relationship is thought to be due to prolonged inflammation and an altered immune response in cases of periodontitis.La periodontitis es reconocida como un trastorno inflamatorio persistente de origen multifactorial, en donde es caracterizada por el incremento de placa bacteriana, generando la inflamación de la encía y la degradación del tejido que sostiene los dientes. Esta patología compromete la salud bucal y se ha vinculado con varias afecciones sistémicas, incluyendo trastornos cardiovasculares y diabetes.
