It is known that the chronic inflammation of the gingival tissue is caused by an immune hyperresponse caused by the accumulation of dental biofilm on the root surface, triggering the progressive destruction of the periodontal tissues, compromising the support and stability of the teeth. Over time, different treatment alternatives have been proposed as adjuvants to scaling and root planing, such as: antibiotics, analgesics, probiotics, alternative therapies, among others.El presente trabajo de investigación se centra en el análisis in vitro de la relación de biomateriales y componentes de origen natural, como posible tratamiento coadyuvante para la periodontitis. Se conoce que la inflamación crónica del tejido gingival está dada por una hiperrespuesta inmunitaria causada por el acúmulo de biofilm dental en la superficie radicular, desencadenando la destrucción progresiva de los tejidos periodontales comprometiendo el soporte y la estabilidad de los dientes.
