Abstract
Introduction: The endodontic treatment is composed of different sequential stages, including sealing of the canal. This comprises a set of procedures performed in an ordered sequence, which involve the use of an endodontic sealant with ideal properties that promote a hermetic, three-dimensional and stable seal. Among endodontic sealants are bioceramic sealants, which in turn are subdivided into premixed bioceramics that are stored in hermetic syringes, they are new formulations that seek to solve problems of handling, intraduct placement, working time, low biocompatibility and bioactivity presented by other sealants.
Methodology: Four electronic databases PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science and Google Scholar were used; The systematized search was carried out considering PICO criteria, mesh and non-mesh terms. Exclusion was made by title, abstract and methodological quality, for a consolidated of 63 articles included.
Results: Bioceramics premixed sealants showed adequate chemical composition, radiopacity and setting time met ISO 6876 requirements except for solubility. Sealants proved to be alkaline, presented favorable bioactivity and biocompatibility.
Conclusions: The premixed bioceramic sealants showed adequate physicochemical properties such as pH, setting time, radiopacity, bioactive potential and favorable biocompatibility. However, multiple studies indicate that TotalFill BC, Iroot SP, Bio-C and Sealer Plus BC sealants show solubility values higher than those required by ISO 6876/2012 specification number 57 ANSI / ADA. Without ignoring that the literature reports various limitations regarding the methodologies to evaluate the solubility of these materials.
