Abstract
This study, of a qualitative type with a narrative design, had the objective of analyzing the way in which ICBF surrogate mothers incorporate parenting practices in the accompaniment they provide to children and adolescents under the process of reestablishing rights. For this, there was the participation of 3 surrogate mothers from the ICBF, the narratives were analyzed in light of the conceptual categories related to knowledge about parenting practices, the personal aspects of surrogate mothers that influence parenting practices, the characteristics of the support that they provide in light of the exercise of parenting practices, and the ICBF training processes aimed at surrogate mothers on parenting practices.
From the perspective of this research, and according to the analysis of the aspects, it was possible to show, on the one hand, that surrogate mothers do not identify or appropriate parenting practices, so they do not recognize implementing them within their home substitute; Likewise, it was evidenced that parenting practices are a tool that could facilitate the work of care and accompaniment within the framework of the process of reestablishing rights. However, in a review of bibliographic sources and through the interviews, it was not identified that the ICBF encouraged the use of this type of practice. For this reason, the care work carried out by surrogate mothers ends up being exercised, mainly, based on their own beliefs and experiences and not, through the proper use of standards of parenting practices.
