Abstract
It is presented a case of a 4-year-old patient of the Tapirus terrestris species belonging to
the population of animals at the Zoologico de Cali Valle del Cauca, who presented foot
lesions for a month.
By means of the clinicopathological correlation, the diagnosis of white line disease
secondary to a foreign object was reached, the presentation of which is uncommon in this
species. The patient was treated by a combination of antibiotic, anti-inflammatory, and
chemical debridement therapy. In addition, radiographic studies were performed to assess
the damage caused by the foreign object.
Next, the case is presented, along with a review on the topic of White line disease and
how operant conditioning allows treating this wild species without the need for restraint
methods.
