Abstract
The present study focused on establishing the predictive value of two tests of sperm resistance and functionality on the post-insemination non-return rate artificial in pigs, in search of a useful laboratory test at the commercial. In three farms located in the departments of Cundinamarca, Caldas and Cauca, 14 ejaculates were obtained from different males, to carry out laboratory analysis of a commercial dose and perform artificial insemination with the rest of the doses produced to evaluate the presence of estrus 18 to 22 days post-insemination. A laboratory test was developed that consisted in determining the morphology, the Plasma and acrosomal membrane integrity by iodide labeling. Arachis hypogaea peanut propidium and agglutinin bound to isothiocyanate fluorescein (PI /FITC-PNA, from the English name) after hypoosmotic stress, in search for an elite population of functionally competent spermatozoa (EFC).
